Choose a tank for my Midas

Which tank would you put a single midas in for life?

- 38Lx22Wx24H (85G)
- 48Lx18wx24H (90G)

just picked up the 85G today. loved the dimensions and wondered if the added width would be of any benefit.

Here's the pic of the 85, it looks alot bigger than the 90 since its so wide.

Most cichlids hang out low in the tank so height isn't as important as width. It's only 10 inches shorter length wise, I'd go with the 85.

I have a 65 (36 x 18 x 24) with a solo Midas and it works great. Happy fella

I'd go for the 48x18 footprint myself. More room to swim without turning is always good.

the 48x18 has a footprint of 6sq ft while the other is 5.8. its very close but the length is gonna be more beneficial. 18" is more than adequate width for a midas

I agree with this, 18" is fine width wise I'd go for the added length.

I'd usually go wider, but with a fish that won't get too long I would simply go with the bigger of the 2 as far as sq ft are and in this case the 90 gal
