Live Aquaria says that watch mans can go in 30 gallon tanks, I'm planning on one for my 29.

The fish which catches my eyes THR most is the purple fire fish! Then the orange clown goby then the regular fire fish.... The neon goby just seems like a neon tetra lol

yeah they kinda resemble Penguin Tetras or Neon Tetras IMO. Still a good looking fish though, but definitely not the coolest of the bunch. I might pick up a Citrinis Clown Goby on Friday or next Saturday. I have already gotten the Purple Fire Fish and I would rather not put a regular Fire Fish with the Purple one which is why I am looking for some sort of small Goby or something to go with him.

you can't always trust everything you read on the internet, but Live Aquaria has some pretty good info. The Watchman needs a MINIMUM of 30g though, so personally I would either upgrade tank size or look for a smaller Goby that has a 20g minimum requirement. Since my tank is only a small 10g I kinda had no choice but to look for something with a 10g minimum just because there really isn't anything that can go in anything smaller than a 10g. You may not have any problems with the Watchman in the 29 though so try it and see how it goes.

Ya I def will, just watch out with your bio load in a 10 gallon. I only usually hear 1 fish in a 10, and maybe 2 if they are small. Remember you can still do inverts and coral!

It is just 1 gallon? Would it really matter?.

I do 25% water changes every Friday and I test my water almost everyday at work. I will probably only have 2 fish in there. Smaller tanks definitely are a little harder to maintain just becasue the parameters change so rapidly due to the small volume of water. And one day I will add some easy growing corals like some Mushrooms, but I want to make sure I get everything in good working order with the fish first before I start dropping money into corals.

it might just because the 30g is it's minimun requirement. A 30g is 6" longer than a 29g giving it a decently larger footprint. But like I said, he may or may not have an issue with it. He really won't know unless he tries it. Personally I don't think he will have any issues. I was just giving him my personal opinion.

Actually you may do better with zoas, since mushrooms get BIG.

true, but I figured if I bought some small Mushroom frags then I would have a while before they got too big. I have also been looking at some Tree Corals, small Polyps, and Caulastrea Corals. I don't know much about corals, but I have been looking at some geared more torwards beginners which are also cheaper (usually), that way I don't blow mass money on Corals that might not live.

I think favorite for that size tank would be either clown fish because even though you may not be able to get a lot of fish the clowns are colorful active little guys and then I like firefish just because there awesome. You could also Maybe get a six line wrasse, there very cool but sometimes they can be a pain if they get territorial. I haven't had any problems with mine though, he's never picked on anybody.

Green star polyps are awesome too

Well I already got the Purple Fire Fish and I will probably just get the Citrinis Clown Goby (depending on what new comes in my store this week). I like Clown Fish, but so many people have them so I wanted to go the route less taken I guess if that makes any sense. I wanted to get something more interesting.

Here is my Purple Fire Fish:

I'll have a new thread for the new setup once I have everything tweaked the way I want it and once I decide what other fish to get. I have already got a Cleaner Shrimp, Scarlet Hermit Crab, and some Mexican Turbo Grazer and Astrea Snails as well. Just waiting for the setup to be "finished"
