If my male is labeled as an OB, should I get an OB female, or would any female peacock work?Like any breeding situation. Look for the best proportioned
Female, with the best colors & fins. I like both genders to have an aggressive attitude.
So I need to find an OB. So if I want to breed the male pictured in my original posts, would I need to find a very white OB female? If I were looking to breed my OB, I would be looking for a awsome female OB. Like most established hybrid species, no one other than the breeders really ever know the recipe used to create the OB. If you were to use another variety female peacock, it's pretty safe to predict that the offspring won't resemble the parents. Here's a pic of my OB.View attachment 1349015
Alright thanks!!I think picking a female OB is the best choice. As for her coloration & pattern, pick one with physical traits that you would like to see in the offspring.
I get that, but I’m really just trying to find the best way to pass down colors that I want.I find whenever breeding cichlids, it is better to give the male a choice in females, I normally get at least 3 or 4 females and let them choose a mate to pair up with on their own, and remove the others.
What a human chooses may not always be appropriate for the cichlid wants.
