Choosing the right cichlid

Try to find a world wide distributor so shipping isn't so expensive or just ship the fish to the border line of Canada and the US pick them up and your costs will go down. I mean I just paid $50 for shipping from Rapps and I am only 200 Miles from him, If that! I had the fish overnighted by air though as fast as I could. I find some of my great fish at LFS and I order them from Rapps ( Mainly how I get my fish). I give them plenty of nutrient rich food all varieties. My fish are getting something new everyday almost. I keep them in fairly large tanks as big as I can get and do water changes like a mad man.

Love them and they will love you back.

Oh, and try, try, try until it doesn't piss you off anymore! Just don't waste too much money trying!

It took me a year and a half to get a mix of cichlids that tolerated each other and looking back it was a headache and a half. My plecos laughed at me and said it couldn't be done but now we're all happy and my female Texas rules the roost with class!

So true. Keep the fish in a big enough tank, with plenty of water changes (and proper water conditions) and a varied diet and you'll have a quality fish. Time and time again.

I have been trying to find some in Canada because the border charges for imperting live fish apply to driving them across or flying them in plus I live 10hrs north of the border (Canada is a big place) so its realy not an option anyway.
