*Christmas* CELIDOS !!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great fish! I wish we had seen some on our trip, but, waters were high and I think we missed some fish because of it. . . I guess that gives me a reason to go back! It's true!

Or maybe we missed the celidos because the middle and upper Rio Cuareim was not included in the itinerary?? ;)
(it's true!!:D)

I could have been that too  but, I was really excited about the minuano as well. . . Like I said, just a reason to go back :headbang2

We plan to spend two full days at the ranch at Rincon de Pacheco just to catch Celidochilus. I still have spots open for the December trip! Ken

It's been over a year now so it's about time for an UPDATE!

Later today I'm bringing my female over to FastFish's group of 4 to try and have a second breeding pair this Spring. His largest male seems to have bonded with the female he has, and they are hanging out together acting like they may spawn. So maybe my lady will 'get together' with one of the other males. I'll try and get some photos today. We really hope to be able to have success and get some fry.

Some pics taken yesterday while dropping off our female. The camera was having a hard time focusing past the tank glass, my apologies for the poor quality pics.

Dan's (FastFish) female is quickly developing full courting/breeding colors - another couple weeks and she will be spectacular! Anyone see Vin Kutty's BB article last year on Celidochilus? Great photos + 'lip spot' info. This female looked just as good last summer!

Here's hoping for a successful spawn this Spring (maybe two!). I'll try to get a photo update in about 2 weeks....

WOW!!!
Mine has so far to go until it looks close to that one!!!

Best of success to you, Jon and Dan Ye!!

Didn't know you had any celidochilus Brian, did they come with the vittata?

Our good friend Dan (FastFish) has all 5 celidos (including our female). He will be trying for some spawning this Spring. After seeing his bonded pair Monday I'd say chances are good for some fry! Time will tell....

ALAS !! NO LUCK --- ! Different tanks, different combo's didn't work out, very perplexing . . . . We are bringing the female to the ACA in Milwaukee next month, only if she looks good and can be a contender. Here are some last weekend ~
