I paid nearly $200 less then the service grade rifles CMP sells and when you buy from the CMP you have to do all stuff to qualify for the CMP and then wait several months!

That is why I like milsurps, even if youre not necessarily a gun buff, history buffs can be interested in many of these rifles. I suggest you look into Mosin Nagants, you can get some very interesting pieces of history for a bout a hundred bucks! Stroll on over to 7.62x54r.net for some cool info!

I decided to strip her down again and this time clean the bore. Of course I had to pop in the obligatory Saving Private Ryan in the DVD player. Anyhow, giving her condition and after initial inspection I was expecting a typical dark bore but with decent lands and grooves. Boy was I surprised that after just a few swaps, a look down the barrel revealed a mirror bright bore! It literally hurt my eyes once I turned the bore light on! Woo hoo!

Ive started to refinish the additional stock. Only about half way through of tedious work but its turning out great!
Gotta love the M1, I'm a huge fan of the carbine as well. Can't wait to see her in the new wood!
