She ate 3 smelts today!! Pups are pouncing on the cut up dew worms already.

ThanksThat was a close one! I think it's easy to take it for granted sometimes that your water is fine when you are consistent with water changes. If something's wrong though never hurts to check.
Good save!

Thanks, I may hold a pair back and grow them out a bit this time to see how they look.Glad to hear all worked out well for you. And nice looking pups also, love the king hen pattern. I was hoping for Christmas Pups but i'm still waiting![]()
Thanks and thanks for the help.Great looking pups Trevor!
So pleased all of this had a happy conclusion, best Christmas present ever I think.
Tank needs more filtration anyway and I already know it will need more frequent water changes and less feeding. Before it had 4 tank mates and now only one so that will help too.If it was only high in nitrates how is adding a fx6 going to help? I think you just need to do larger and more frequent water changes.
Thanks, not at home so I am not sure on the exact measurement but it was high. The tank it came from was way lower but again I don't have the chart to look at the numbers. I am sure the high nitrates came from me overfeeding the ray combined with recently cleaning the fx5,inadequate filtration plus the removal of two 5 gallon pails of substrate. Plus the tank mates were no good for a cleanup crew as it was a goonch,2 odoes and an albino adonis. All were moved out but not as fast as I would have liked.Congrats on the pups. What was the nitrate reading in the tank and how did it compare to the tank she was in before moving?
