I have a tank that has 2 fire belly toads, 2 fire belly newts, and 1 whites dumpy tree frog. half the tank is dirt and moss and half is water and gravel. could i add a chubby frog. It sounds crouded but honestly isnt. the tree frog sticks to the side. the toads are on vines, water, and dirt, and the newts are always in the water. so there is in my opinion PLENTY of room. just wondering if it would work. and if not what could i add. like i said there is a lot of room left.

Nothing. None of those things should be mixed anyways.

The dumpy will not survive in that enviorment. The toxins from the newt and toads will kill each other plus the dumpy..

What size tank is this?

20 gallon. I've had them for 8 years. i dont know what your talking about

8 years.... You sure about that?

That tank is way to small for 2 newts, 2 fire bellies and a dumpy let alone anything else.

Read anything about fire belly newt and fire belly toads. They have toxin which can and will kill the other inhabs.

DO you have pics of this tank from 8 years ago? And the inhabs?

i did but they were in my attic which burned down. we also had a regular green tree frog but he died. cant remember why. the only problem we ever had was the tree frog eating gravel which i had to take out with tweezers a few years back. too small for newts????? they arent big. the two toads have never been a problem, nor the newts which ive only had for about 4years the other 2 that were in there beat up my salamander i dont know why. when the salamander died 5 years ago we got more newts. which we've had no problems with since. and ik about the toxins. I knew about them when we started the tank. I've never heard anything about the toxins killing other tankmates. ik they had a nasty taste to predators and could be fatal when eaten. But ive never heard that housing them could kill eachother. I'll see if we still have some pics but i dont think so. In the meantime i'll see if i can get a hold of a camera and take a few pics of the tank now. and the chubby frog is otherwise known as the asian painted frog: http://cutechubbycrew.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/chubby-frog.jpg

you shouldnt mix things with toxic amphibs btw its a bad idea like kearth said

dont have one. I asked my friend if she had one on her phone i thought she did but she doesnt. They seem absolutely fine. I've seen multiple pictures and videos of the same thing im doing. not that they're all correct but if they dont have a problem and ive never had a casaulty from it then im not complaining.

the salamander got beat up from over crowding. At first you said you have 2 FBTs and 2 FBNs and ur whites but in the highlighted section it says your 2 newts beat up the salamander... and after the salamander died you got more newts does that mean you've had more than just these 2 newts?

i say to but a ten gallon and split them up
