chubby frog

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So the green tree frog died, newts beat up the salamander, salamander dies, get more newts. What happen to the first two?You dont see a problem with any of this? I know most amphibs you mentioned are cheap but that does not mean they should not be care for properly.

I know what chubby frogs are. I happen to have a pair.

Please do some research and seperate these poor animals. A 20 gal is enough to house the white dumpy tree frog alone. That is assuming in 8 years that is is full grown which it would be if taken care of properly. How big is your dumpy tree frog?

A 10 gal for the two fire bellies and a seperate 10 gal for the two newt ( or it is 4 newts).

these newts i have currently havent been in the tank since it started. about 5 years old not ten. I had to get rid of the old ones because they beat up my tiger salamander. then after he past i got more newts

first two newts i got rid of, salamander died of what i'm guessing old age we had him for a long time, a tree frog died and i remember their was a specific reason but i cant remember exactly. right now i have1 whites tree frog, 2 fbt, and 2 fbn. which is not crowded. there is plenty of space.

can i put my firebellies in a 29 gallon community tank? they have to swim kinda high to get to the surface

How long did you have the salamander? For it to die of old age it had to be a long long time. Did it die shortly after it got beat up?

The tree frog probably died from the stress of being mixed with other animals it should not be mixed with.

No fire bellies can not go into a 29 gal fish tank. You really really need to start doing some research on the animals you have.

yeah i already looked it up. The tree frog died because it got out of the tank and dried up. I asked my mom about it. it was a while ago. the salamander was the first one introduced into the tank. It was at least 10 yo or older. we had it long before anything else. we got newts into the tank for about 1 week then got rid of them. and no the salamander lived about 15 years. thats 5 years after the newts started to beat on it. I've had a tank living in perfect harmony for OVER 15 years and your saying its not working? they are all in perfect health in crytal clear water and eating very well. If my animals were dieing off left and right we have a problem. there are tons of people that say you cant mix spieces. This is the only non-fish tank that i mix species with. And there are countless cases where it has been done. and this is one of them.i knew from the start you arent supposed to mix species. it was an experiment that was successful so i left it alone. if i had one casaulty due to fighting i could have easily suparated them. I have a 29 gallon comunity tank, a sandfish, 2 leopard geckos, 2 newts, 1 frog, 2 toads and soon to be a sand boa, a tokay gecko, and a pacman frog once i go to a reptile show in january. I've never bought an animal i didnt research for at least 1 month. The 3 new animals i am buying in january already have the tank all setup and the substate waiting to be added. you cant beat the FACT that my animals are healthy, thats proof.

i thought it was eight years? Not 15?

You have more animals dying or getting beat up that most non mixed tanks. That you can not deny. How big is the dumpy? how old?

Seriously you are going to mix leopard geckos, newts, pacman frog, and a tokay? Things that would never meet each other and need way way different habitats..... And you said you researched? What did you read cause you got the wrong information some where.

If you animals were healthy they would not be dying..

Got any pics yet?

HAHAH! HELL NO MAN! im not mixing those. i was just saying i own all those animals and they are all doing great. i was saying ik what im doing. like i said The tank with the fbt, fbn, and whites tree frog is my only mixed tank. ik how to care for all my animals. Im giving the toads and newts to a friend because of the fear of toxins and crap. although ive never had a death from it. the leo has a 20 gallon to himself the other leo also has a 20 to herself, the pacman has a 10 for now because im getting a baby, the tokay has a 20 gallon for now, and the sand boa im getting is getting a 20. Ive never had an overcrowded tank. the reason the current tank is overcrowed and not researched is because years ago b4 i was really into having animals my mother bought the whole setup including animals. Thats why it has such a terrible mix of spieces. Just recently did i think to find out more about the mixure of spieces. Ik how to care for them individaully not altogether.
