For anyone that has kept these guys, what is the growth rate of chuco microphthalmus? The one I have is on a veggie pellet diet with large water changes. I got it a month ago at a little over 2 inches and right now, it's at about 3 inches.

Question duanes duanes

This is a fly solo guy, what other high flow fish thrive with this species? Thorichthys?

Since micropthalmus is found in the Rio Motagua, with species such as
Oscura heterospila
Parachromis motaguensis
Thorichthys aureus
would inhabit the same waters, but may not like strong currents Chuco do.

Non-cichlids such as
many Astyanax species would be found in the currents,
gobies such as Awauos banana

catfish like Rhamdia guatamalensis

Characins such as Brycon guatamalensis Roeboides species woulds inhabit these strong current areas too

Xiphorus swordtails would also appreciate the fast waters.

HMmmm definitely don't want a RTM tearing at it.
I'd like to keep something that'll have similar herbivore diet. I have 2 Thorichthys aureus but separated in 2 different tanks and they're bigger than the micro. The male I have took out 4 others and left me with one to save.
Roeboides are very rare unless you get the mini versions which are considered to be the "dwarf vampire tetra" in this case are once in awhile find in the states.
Would meeki do ok with a solo chuco?

Actually, they are found as far north as the Carolinas on the Altantic side, and Anahiem Bay in California where they are sometimes sold as bait (along with Awaous gobies).
They can both be found in sea, brackish and fresh waters.

Agh ok, they probably would be on the coastal side of the Carolinas. I'm in Western Piedmont area of NC, probably an hour and some change from the big mountains.
