For anyone that has kept these guys, what is the growth rate of chuco microphthalmus? The one I have is on a veggie pellet diet with large water changes. I got it a month ago at a little over 2 inches and right now, it's at about 3 inches.
So quick growth until the 5 inch range and then the typical alien down.View attachment 1573860
Mine grew almost an inch per month (from 2¨to about 5¨)

I tried to change about 30% of the tanks water every other day, feeding NLS algaemax.
They were in a 125 gal with 4 similar size sajica.

HMmmm definitely don't want a RTM tearing at it.Since micropthalmus is found in the Rio Motagua, with species such as
Oscura heterospila
Parachromis motaguensis
Thorichthys aureus
would inhabit the same waters, but may not like strong currents Chuco do.
Non-cichlids such as
many Astyanax species would be found in the currents,
gobies such as Awauos banana

catfish like Rhamdia guatamalensis

Characins such as Brycon guatamalensis Roeboides species woulds inhabit these strong current areas too

Xiphorus swordtails would also appreciate the fast waters.

Large enough, but also non-aggressive.
This most is common problem with other cichlids, territorial disputes if a tank is not large enough,
Agh ok, they probably would be on the coastal side of the Carolinas. I'm in Western Piedmont area of NC, probably an hour and some change from the big mountains.Actually, they are found as far north as the Carolinas on the Altantic side, and Anahiem Bay in California where they are sometimes sold as bait (along with Awaous gobies).
They can both be found in sea, brackish and fresh waters.
