So my friend was walking thru pet supermarket yesterday and found two peacock bass mixed in with a tank of peacock cichlids. He called me right away and told me about em cause he knew they're on my wish list. Sent me a pic and I confirmed they were def cichla. They didn't know what they were and sold em to him for me for 8 bucks lol. So now I gotta get em growing so they can get out of his 55 gal and into my tank. Just wanted to share :headbang2

On another note, I just did a water change in my tank and noticed a bunch of little (i mean TINY) white worms at the bottom of the tank mixed with the crap and stuff in the mexican beach pebbles i have on the bottom. Any one know what they are? I'm picking up aquarium salt to add to the tank today on my way to work, so hopefully that will maybe kill em. Just kinda concerned me.

Little worms means you are feeding too much, and not all the food is getting eaten.

Gotcha. That's good then cause I'm planning on cutting their food back anyway that way the new cichla can catch up. How much do you guys feed your fish. or should i say how often?. I know you want to feed them as much as the'yll eat in a couple mins, but everyday? every other day? Or can I go once a week so the cichla can catch up faster.

Don't take this as I'm wanting to malnourish my fish lol Just wanting to slow em down a bit.

Also how often should the lil cichla be fed in order for them to grow as fast as possible?

They get P Bass at the Pet Supermarket in my city too. They aren't a regular stock item though. I'm glad you scored a good deal.

I see you're from St Aug. And your link showed some sort of Thai restaurant thing. You work at either the Thai restaurant on Philips Hwy north of Palencia or the one down near the walmart in st aug?

There must be a glitch or something. LOL. I am an author and artist. I work from home. I don't work at a Thai Restaurant. But I do live in St. Augustine. There is a Pet Supermarket here that gets in a few things that Petsmart and Petco don't carry. I saw P. Bass there several months ago.

rybo hope you're also upgrading coz 90 won't last long with cichlas.

I feed my tank fish once a day- sometimes twice if they give me the puppy dog face.

I do feed them a variety, and try to to feed too much pre packaged dry foods. That seems to be the reason for the little worms.

But they are great for fry!

Yea im tryin to get a 150 from someone I met that has it sitting empty on their front porch. so then ill sell the 90 to my friend who has the 55 now and ill have the 150 until my 2011 tax return comes in and i got the go ahead for a 300 from my wife. I figured in about one year they'll all be ready for the 300. then the 150'll become the sump for the 300.
