Well of late ive been worried that my big cichla has had some HITH. And looking at him hes has a small bit on his head where i thought he might have scraped it. But looking at it i think it could be a small bit of HITH and a small whole just above his mouth. Im very worried, as hes my fave fish and the best fish ive ever kept :(

My water quality is super clear and always has been, im way overfiltering and using a UV steriliser. My nitrates are high around 200-250ppm. But i do a big weekly 50% waterchanges as im only alloud to do it once per week. I feed only the best, i use Hikari and good meaty feed. I love him to bits. Its notoverstocked at all either...... Any help?

I dont want it to get worst>>>>> I still love him just as much though :(

Thanks

If it is no that bad I wouldn't treat him for a small case of HITH. From what I could see I didn't see anything but you can see better then we can for sure. List out all the food's your feeding them if you can. And your WC schedule. That's a start. I have treated and seen way worse. At least you caught it before it got really serious.

If needed a treatment for the HITH do you have a hospital tank that he will fit into?

I feed Hikari gold, prawns, mussles, cockle. I do a 50% waterchange every tuesday. Im not allowed to do any more than that cos ive got to run the hosepipe through the house and my mum hates it.

I dont have a seperate tank for him :(

Man your hands are tied. Well man I am going to have to think about this one. The only thing that comes to mind quick is using a 5g bucket and remove 10g every other day until it clears up. That is about all I can think of right off the back. That will help you with the water issues if there are any. How offten do you clean your filters?

I know.... Ive added salt. Im gonna try and do twice weekly W/C for a few weeks.

I heard somewhere that feeding live earthworms helps with HITH in Oscars, maybe it helps with Cichla as well?
