Cichla in a pond?

If you're worried about the temperature and you don't want the net then why bother taking the risk?

Those fish are too special to gamble with, keep them safe and where you can keep an eye on them is my thoughts - how much faster growth could you possibly achieve in a pond? Not much i wouldn't think...

I'm no worried about temp at all. I was mainly worried about them jumping out. Which isn't an issue any more because I plan on putting bird netting on there.

I'm sure their growth will be a bit more. It's not so much trying to get better growth on them tho, it's about seeing them in a different habitat along with I don't want to be keeping a grow out when they'll be just fine in this pond. One less wc to do weekly along with using less electric and water.
 
my azuls have been in a pond for a year and havent jumped never gave it much thought really til now since yours is outside i would worry about other stuff more

i like the hot tub idea too
