Oh and there is no cichla marianae which is the fogo bass. Unheard of outside of Brazil

I think they meant to say cichla melanae. Which is the xingu bass. WBut you didn't get the

looks the the orinos that one of my local LFS just got in. Smaller but same pattern.

scientific name for xingu peacock is cichla melaniae named after ichthyologist Melanie.

Marianiae is a different fish we call Fogo, which has never been imported or exported.

I think that's the scientific name for xingu.

they are actually wc and imported from brazil according to the store owner, something i thought not necessary to mention, now that you mentioned this fogo, it instantly got my interests to a whole new level, after comparing to this thread

I think I am willing to take the risk of getting my hands on one or two. maybe they'll turn out to be fogos as they do show the potential with red eye and all... I will get one today and keep you guys updated on how it turn out to be! (hopefully the one i like is still there)

Seen them at missisauga Aquarium also, guy dosnt know much. Definitely not what there labeled as as they now say Melaniae also
