I tried cartridges as well. Problem is after about a month the organics start to build-up on the element material. Normal rinsing will only get you a few days before it clogs. I stay away from acid or bleach soaking. That high capacity cartridge requires a high rpm pump which is what you got. Don't be shocked when you get your electricity bill. That Pentair pump is a energy pig.

Il have have to keep that in mind about the cartridge, but as for the pump I thought this pump want bad it had the same amperage rating as the last pump I had which is 2.5 a and keep in mind I'm actually downsizing now from for filters to just this one.but I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the info. I'll prob start looking for a sand filter but I need one thats under 2 feet tall which makes it difficult to locate
