Cichla Room Started:

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just a brief update... Not much is going on with this tank until next week. But I got the tank filled, it's holding water fine, and I have the driftwood water-logging. You can see I have a steel sheer blade from one of my balers holding the wood down(the sheer blade is the straight line looking part about a foot from the bottom of the tank). It's amazing how much weight it took to hold those 2 pieces of wood down. (The tree trunk piece of wood is going in my 300 gallon, not this tank- it is hard to see in the picture but it is behind the big branch-type piece). The hang-on filters are running so I can have the tank cycling while I'm completing the filtration. (they have old media in them). I also had my electrician in yesterday, and he will be doing a bunch of work to customize the room for all the outlet needs(probably drop some electric from above through the ceiling)... and capacity adjustment if necessary (he doesn't think capacity is an issue which makes it a lot less $'s). I have 2 racks completed each of which will hold 3 tanks. (1 will hold 2-40's & 1-20 long, the other holds 2-20 long & 1-40... all I got @ $1/gallon at Petco) I am painting them tomorrow & will get picks of them once completed. 1 more rack is being made to hold 2 75 gallon tanks on it.

NIce start! Looks like you should get an electrician over to help you lessen the number of extension cords and beef up your available power.
Your gonna need a bit more room w/ all the bass you have. I'll take any extra kels, azuls or xingu that you dont need :)

Just an update. I got the racks done for the smaller tanks, painted them, and have an electrician coming in tomorrow... I'll get pics after the electrical is done & I move the other tanks all into the racks. By then, I may have the filtration going on the big tank in the middle of the room. I have to keep focused on the timeline because I have 2 rays coming at the end of the month...

That piece of wood looks even better in the tank.

Thanks isde02. I really like it too. I'm still not sure what's going in the tank besides pbass & rays, but I look forward to seeing the tank complete & clean. Whatever goes in there, I like that driftwood piece I found!

I just have the biological going. The u-v I will wait to hook up in a month or 2. (that's it under the stand). Hey Ken- wouldn't a burp valve be nice to have on these filters? The pumps & filter are super quiet! The flow is great- as the pic from above the water shows- & that's only one of them running!
