Yes it is an intermedia. While I will be the first to say these are some awesome Cichla, I hate to admit that their colours are 'slightly' cooked.

One of the best ways to take beautiful photos of cichla is to have good t5 or Metal halide in the range of 6,500 to 10,000 Kelvin.

The Cichla I want to see are missing...

... and I don't think that is an Azul.

Marcus, yeah, this lemon Cichla is not Azul However, showing more blue/green on the dorsal and other fins. I really love this Lemon Cichla !!!

is the second pic an intermedia? crazy red...

Your eye is correct !!! She has the most red color on the fins in about 10 adult Intermedias and I can see the red on the belly to middle part of the body!!!

I saw a picture a while ago from a German website. It looked a lot like yours, and I thought I would never see a second one like it. Very nice color contrast. Here is the picture, it is listed as a Cichla pinima "tabajos"
