As a relative newbie to Cichla and being one of the ones that purchased these fish from Wes, I'm following this thread and curious to see where it heads. That being said, I've been a member here, albeit a quiet one, for a long time and have full confidence in Wes and the fish he brings us. I've never seen anything but straight shooting from him and awesome fish brought to the hobby, many of which we'd rarely see if not for him.

Here is my experience with the Weasel-like Wesley Wong
He came to me over a month ago with an offer of 2 2spot kels, 2 azuls, 2 xingu, 2 pinima for $1000. I sent the money via paypal almost immediately, amazed at what a good deal I was getting. Felt it was too good to be true, and it was! The night before the fish were supposed to arrive (5 days later), he told me a pinima and a xingu both developed hith and he couldnt sell me the fish in that condition nor was he willing to sell the rest of the group separately. He said if they improved he would sell them to me and if not, he promised to make it right on my next order.
A week and a half ago I ordered 3x "wild caught sao francisco" azuls from him. I even called him to verify they were wild caught and get the collection point. So ladies and gentlen, this is how he makes it right. Not only did he lie to me about the origins of the azuls, now this is not an attack on Hulon in anyway, but I find out that the 2 pinima that I was supposed to recieve have magically swam their way into Hugh's tank.
Obviously A LITTLE upset!

The problem is everyone has their own thinking of what is wild. I think most of us dun consider pb caught from our local waters as wc fishes for the aquarium trade. But they are wc fishes which have bred in the wild. I dun agree that f1s are wild caught even if bred in a man made catchment from the river they are from. But if the traders had already said that they do, we can't say they cheated us with their labeling can we? What i think is ridiculous is adding the Sao Francisco base on seeing another hobbist fishes. But since he nv said it is wc and even admitted he didn't know if it was. He wasn't doing what everyone seems to be accusing him of. What he did was add a fancy name to the pb he is selling like most traders do.
Btw, u guys are really getting the short end of the stick over there. Over here bahia go for as low as 38bucks and most dun have bend fins as such. We do get 2 spotted and semi short bodies through.

This whole fiasco has really disenchanted me from the realm of fishkeeping. Being lied to by a Vendor you looked up to and borderline idolized, and all just to make a quick buck, has really made me mistrust all vendors on mfk. For shame.

you are misinformed. the ones Hugh got, he got way before you had even heard about the pinima. He is the one that prompted me to order them. and please find where did I ever, say they were wild. PLease get your facts straight.
I still have those 2 pinima in my tank, and I will snap a picture for you tomorrow, and if you want your hith fish, send me the money and I'll send them to you. or you should apologize for making a fool out of yourself. and I refunded you the money the same day I didn't ship out the fish. What gets you off?

hi nid, you sound really educated especially in the hobby and in the trade in sing. hats off to you bro.. you are relatively new in mfk right? but with all do respect, when it comes to the international trade, you do not know alot yet.. my importer is reading your posts and tells me to type these for you. 
and about my issue with fugupuff, there are still some info that are not available to you guys out there. im not a monster that would divulge all that i know about him. im really tempted to but i wont go down to that level. dont have to and dont want to create issues anymore, im sure fugupuff wouldnt want me to do so as well. my main issue here is the LYING.. hopefully it stops. id like to thank fugupuff as well for kinda admitting little by little. but im sorry that the damage has been done already. I sorta knew that this would happen, i never had enemies in my life and now people dont like me. i never wanted beef with people like ken, nid or the other fugupuff supporters. but i slept like a baby last night knowing i did the right thing, whatever you guys think of me and the other people here that just want HONESTY and ACCOUNTABILITY when it comes to the business, its up to you now. hopefully you wont get dooped in any way in your lives.

And we appreciate your honesty darboy. It's the things like, "get em before their gone", thing that really irks me. Not all of us have tons of $. And sometimes we...as hobbyists go for broke. Literally. Sometimes waiting those extra two weeks would make life sooo much easier if those "über rare" fish weren't purchased. But they were gonna sell out and never become available again. A little. HONESTY goes a long way in my book.
