Cichla sp Azul

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, really...I want some myself. I have yet to see any availability. If I didn't know any better I'd say certain people had inside tracks... ;)

You're not going to find them any time soon, and those who have them aren't selling them....

Oh, I'm not concerned about not being able to get them any time soon or what not?... it's what to expect as it grows bigger, that's what I'm worried about?!! ;)

Azuls are not uncommon fish in the wild and they are actually used to stock alot of lakes in the south of Brazil. They are believed to be a colour form of the Monoculus and therefore don't grow to the lenghts that Temensis do. This form is just difficult to get hold of in the hobby.

That is why i asked Clay a couple questions in my post. I was told by an acquaintance (who currently keeps Azuls) that they have very similar charactoristic-likes as monoculas? (or ocillaris??) I don't know for sure, can't remember?? Anyways, it's always good to hear & get other people's insites, thoughts, and experiences that they have had... and learn from one another, you know!! :headbang2

Hard to tell in the picture............. How big are they Clay?

Phulltank, that would explain why the first thing I noticed when Clay sent me the pics of the fish was the clear top of the caudal and the red bottom of the caudal. Saw that on every monoculus I pulled out of every canal in Florida. Supposedly, that red turns blue later on in life though, according to a close hairless source of mine.
