Cichlasoma Dimerus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi Sean, you from Edmonton? I think I know who you got them from.

I bought as well however I got four which I knew were from the parents. I had asked for more but when they were netted from the parents tank. I said the last two were convicts. I didn't care as they were freebies for not having the rest.

Yes, I'm in Edmonton, and I'm sure we're talking about the same person.

It's too bad really, as it has kind of soured my experience buying fish from her.

Just curious when you got yours and if the first 2 have turned out to actually be dimerus?

When I got mine, they were in a separate tank from the parents, and honestly they all looked like convicts. I questioned her on it, and she said this is just what they look like when young. I chose to trust her, as she seems very knowledgeable and she clearly had a breeding pair of actual Dimerus in the next room. Oh well, live and learn! I found a new home for the convict (who was turning into a real a-hole and was very aggressive to my little Rotkeil), so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I'll have to find something else to fill that spot in my tank :)

The freebie was definitely a convict. I have four others that are all definitely Dimerus. I've never had any issues prior. I kept telling her too but since it was a free one I shrugged it off.

I hope to get a pair from these four. Once that happens if you're still looking for Dimerus I'll probably be trading the extras off. I bought five cichlasoma amazonarum was supposed to be six. Turns out she sold a geo and a amazonarum to someone who wanted two Geo's.
