ok, so I've fed my new convicts flake food a little while, but I know I can also give brine, blood worms, leafies, and veggies right (anything else you can add?)
HOWEVER, I also read that too much protein can he harmful. My question is, how often should I feed what?? As in protein (bloods n brine) how many times a week? Veggies daily?? I don't want to overkill my fish with too much of something they don't need. Help please :) And an example of a diet regimen schedule would be greatly appreciated ;)

I feed all of my fish NLS 7 days a week. I keep zuchinni around for treats.

I'd agree with pharaoh's approach, base it only a regular staple of a high quality pellet, and supplement with other things as you prefer

so pellets could be staple and worms, brine and veggies as treats?

You got it! I only give brine shrimp & zuchinni every once in a while. That way, they're really happy about it.

Foods like New Life Spectrum (NLS), Omega 1, and Hikari are formulated for use on a regular basis.

Everything I own eats Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets twice a day, that's it. Seems to work for them.

They're healthy, colorful, grow like weeds, and everything else you could expect.

As far as earthworms and frozen cubes of randon stuff, I only do once a month or so.

I read something about lettuce gave them some and they spit it out. Hmm I guess they're picky just as people with their foods? lol

mine eat anything...but especially love fresh shrimp. You can either buy it at the grocery store fresh or at a market. My trimac would eat 2x 5 inch shrimp...but the festae & grammodes dont touch it. For the convicts, I chop a shrimp into about 15 pieces and drop it in. Also, mealworms & crickets.

I rotate a variety of pellets - - mostly hikari and omega one, some NLS - - and then supplement with different kinds of shrimp, veggie flakes, etc.
