  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool! I would like to see a 1.5 lb fish!

I'll be down there 23rd of May to catch some of those guys. Probably won't keep em but it'll be fun to catch a few. So is guadalupe the highest concentration of Cyanno?

Where in Texas are you going?

Most of them can be found around Austin/San Marcos/New Braunfels area.

A year ago I moved to New Braunfels and that is where I caught mine at. There is a park in the middle of town and the Comal springs/river goes right in the middle of it. At night around 11:00pm we would go there to get crawfish and grass/ghost shrimp for the fish. But there is a little spring fed pool about 2 foot deep and that is where we found most of our Cichlids. We caught about 12 of them and also a baby Flathead cat that I will be building a pond for soon. It is easier to catch them at night and suprise them with a flashlight. We just used a dip net, most of them were between 3 - 6 inches. There is also a small creek that I called the crawfish nursery because most of the time you can get about 10-15 baby crafish about an inch and under. Once we found one smaller than a ghost shrimp. That was cool.

I moved back to Corpus so that sucks ... It was fun catching those. All I have a 2 now because we split up the find, and no reason to keep more than you can take care of. They are breeding now so that is REALLY cool.

I hope this helps and good luck brother.:headbang2

Also, if you wanna fish for them, just use a worm, cut it into a small piece and use a bobber, light line would work the best and the smallest hook you can use. Best size one I caught was about 10 in. They are Perch so they really don't fight. kinda just lifted them out of the water.

Locals use them and shad for fish'n Bass and cats, and funny thing is, the plastic ZOOM Fluke I use for catch'n Bass is based off the Texas.

While your in New Braunfels ( if you decide to go ) go to Schliterbauhn(sp?) you'll have a blast.
