a jd wont work, firemouth can work, ram cichlid cockatoo cichlid, any dwarf cichlids would work.

No not in a 30gallon

single firemouth would work.. you could do a temporary housing for a jd.. but ive had convicts breed in a tankful of other fish so you could probably remove the divider..

So true, they dont care whos in the tank.

50 gallon yes. u could do a pair of firemouth on each side.

Ok. I can but any pairs so ill have to use best judgment to find male and female. I can only find them a tad smaller than the cons or they are a lot bigger. Would the smaller be ok. I can always grow them out until their larger?
