You're right: Herichthys minckleyi. BTW, this male killed this female within a day after this pic was taken.
I have 4 panamensis total. One is a total nutcase, very bad disposition (currently in a community tank with larger fish). One is fine, currently growing out with a Cryptoheros myrnae pair. Finally, this "pair" does great together so far. No breeding yet, but no serious aggression issues, either. They are currently in a 29, but will be moving into a 55 very soon. I have a friend who has some that all seem to fall into the "total nutcase" variety. Aggression is what I've heard as the biggest complaint.
Thanks for the info. Mine can hold their own with the bruisers right now (2-3") but I expect they'll be the low guys on the totem pole before long. I hear that they can be sexed by females having dark in the dorsal, have you seen that?
Tough luck with the Herichthys minckleyi, they can be nasty to each other. I was offered some in December but didn't have the room.
Here's one of mine...let's see if you can get what it was sold as. As for what it really is...that's still up in the air.
