Either that or a Pseudotropheus socolofi. It looks like there's black on the pelvic and anal fins, and possibly a submarginal band on the dorsal fin.

In layman's terms, is the fish blue with black on the fins??

Blueish purple yes. There might be some slight black on the fins. There looks like a white lining along the edges. Also a bright jewel behind each eye

Sounds like you have what could be a hybrid between a socolofi and a red zebra (blue male morph). looks to be strongly zebra though, so that's probably the mom.

I've raised both, and the pictures and description have traits from both, so that's most likely the case.
