have had 3 of these guys. not all at the same time. lost all of them at about 8" to infections that showed up practicly overnight

Bottom one a [FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]Nimbochromis venustus[/SIZE][/FONT]?

i thought they where Hap. Livingstoni, but someone said they are venestus.
the one in the top pic started to turn blue in the face and the bottom one stayed light brown.

Males having blue colouration is true for both venustus and livinstonii. In case of venustus only the face becomes blue, while livingstonii becomes blue all over gradually making the splotches disappear during breeding. And the splotches in the pics are making me bend more towards livingstonii than venustus.

The fish look more like a nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus or nimbochromis Polystigma to me. The last one the more propable
