Just got back from the fish store and saw this cichlid which neither the store keeper nor i knew the type. One thing i know thats its a cichlid and probably some sort of hybrid. The store keeper said it came listed as a flowerhorn but he thinks it may be a mix of FH with something else. When it first came it was pale in color and just had the black spot on the body, but after a few weeks it started to get this red and yellow shade. Was thinking of getting it but wanted to check first if anyone could ID it and if its worth buying.photo(19).JPGphoto(20).JPGphoto(18).JPG

I'd guess that it's a hybrid that is heavy on the Trimac side. Grow it up a little and see how it turns out. This is how a lot of beautiful fish stories start out.

Depends on how much he wants for it. If you were specifically looking for a flowerhorn I would wait for another but if you just saw him and thought he might be a good pick up then get him. You can grow him up a little and decide to keep him or move him out later.

The glass of the aquarium it is in is not clear and water was a bit dirty so thats why it looks like its been beat up, otherwise its in perfect condition. Wanted to get it today but was worried it would turn into some kind of ugly fish, like i said dont think its a FH. Price is around $6..

So i went and bought this weird looking cichlid today hoping it will turn into some sort of good looking hybrid. Will be posting some pics soon once it settles in the tank. Btw i still hoping that someone could ID this cichlid as it would be great to know what it actually is....
