My LFS owner received a shipment of firemouths about two weeks ago. This little guy was in with them. No one had shown interest in him and I have the tank space to support him and let him live a happy life even if he does grow to be a large cichlid. I bought him out of sheer curiosity since I could not ID him. Does anyone know what he may be? This one has me stumped. I’m sure it’s something Central American though. Here’s everything that comes to mind for me that it resembles, Tomocichla Sieboldii, Chuco Microphthalmus, and Paraneetroplus Bulleri. Good luck on your hunt for an ID

disclaimer: he was pitch black when he was in the store, he had no markings and I was completely bewildered. When I got home, he was completely white. Once I set him in the tank to acclimate, he turned dark again. Now in the tank, he has colored up nicely. From the body shape and facial structure I guessed CA, but now I am almost positive he is some kind of veija. I just do not know what kind.

stiker stiker if it is a hybrid it would been near impossible to know for sure. He’s a handsome little guy without all the black now. I’m interested to see how he progresses
