One of the ways that distinguish bifasciata from other Vieja, is a dark area above the lateral line in the mid body and running to the posterior.
When young (below) that dark area is not often apparent.

But as mature adults, it is obvious.


Other colors may not be significant, because they can vary according to ancestral catch location.
One location may present more yellow, one more red.
