Saw this guy at petco and they didn’t have a label for him. He’s definitely a short body but can’t find out what kind of cichlid he is, for some reason I think a type of cockatoo cichlid ( yes I noticed the ich) 420ED842-F444-4D1D-BDE1-764E1C63DA2C.jpeg

Looks like a short body Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi aka Blue Ram
Doesn’t look like a blue ram to me. Idk, the others will chime in and confirm it. How aggressive are they? Would it work in my 29g with 4 bb cats and I’m getting some blind cave tetras and maybe stone catfish or would the cichlid be too aggressive?

Please don't.

Aka ballon blue ram
Its 100% a short body blue ram
I don’t know why but I just can’t see it lol. I’m not gonna say it’s not when I have 3 people say it is I believe it now and thanks for the ID but something about it seems off from a blue ram. I won’t be getting it for the tank, I’m gonna stick with bb cats, blind cave tetras and possibly stone cats.

it’s because it’s a line bred deformity

Makes sense when you think about it but with most sb fish they usually look like the same fish with just a tail and body deformity but with the ram it looks like a whole different fish to me, I also might be confusing it with another ram or something though.

I agree with the others blue ram or German blue ram is what we call them in Canada. There’s also electric blue rams (not this guy) so we refer to the as German blue rams
