Parachromis? Edit: oh it looks like you’re already aware it’s a para, just wondering what type. Unfortunately I am not sure.

On almost any adult Parachromis, (except dovii) a myriad of small spots (like the ones below) on the gill plate usually indicate a male. kind of visible in your first couple pics.
But if young this may change.

Mature 10=" male motaguense above.
Can't tell how large yours is, but it appears to be young, and when young almost all Parachromis look alike.
To get a better idea, clean the water spots off the outside glass, and if possible get a better, manual focusing camera.
Looks like you used a phone cam, which usually does not allow detail from the kind focus needed shooting thru glass.
And with all the random crossing done these days, "unless" you got it from a reliable source (meaning not a LFS that doesn't demand lineage info from local breeders) you may never know.

Does look like either a freddy, multi, mota. Like duanes said it's hard to tell the young ones apart, if teh vendor told you Freddy that's what I'd go with for now until it's large, then will be easy to tell.

The real question is it a P. friedrichstahlii based on outdated species identification or the current species identification.

Agree,
if its ancestors were imported from southern Mexico, Honduras, or another place in northern Central America. It would be P. friedrichstahlii.
But if its ancestors were imported from Panama, it would be P multifasciatus (formerly Loisellii).
Below photo are juvies of P sp "La Ceiba" from Hondurus

And below a video I took near Tulum in Cenote Aktun Ha, of P friedrichstahlii . At @ 1 minute, what appears to be a female appears, and then thoughout are a few juvies.
The other more prevalent cichlid species are introduced and feral Tilapines.
