Interesting how the spot on the firemouth gill plate makes it look like it has a different wider set of eyes, bluffing rivals into thinking it is bigger than it is. I think that's actually equally as important as the red of the throat.

Hi Duanes. Good point about the eyespots on the gill plates. Even the blue ring around the spot mimics a firemouth's eyes.
