For Convicts in the 1.5 - 2.5" range (considering you can't get NLS Thera A 1mm) I would use Omega One Marine pellets, I use them along with the Thera A on all my small fish. You could also add Omega One Veggie flakes to round out the diet.

I voted for hikari bio gold, since I got it my fish have been growing like weeds.

Dainichi.... I think I'm the only one that votes for them around here. I love their food. I use a few different pellets. Color supreme and ultima krill. Fish love it, colors are awesome and they grow like crazy.

I think it is most important to give any fish a variety of food...

The staple for my Malawi tank is Hikari Cichlid Bio Gold+ .. I staple for the Jag is Hikari Cichlid Gold (Sinking).

I mix the diet (for both Malawis and Jag) with Cichlid Bio-Gold+, Cichlid Gold, Freeze Dried Blood Worms, Shrimps, Jumbo krill.... I plan to add Hikari Cichlid Excel to this..

Just my two cents.
Sid

i agree a variety is always better,i feed cichlid gold, bio gold, cichlid excel, krill, blood worms, ken fish spirulina pellets, romaine lettuce(yes all my fish will eat it),and peas. i could never get any of my fish to eat nls even from babies(ended up giving it all away), i voted bio gold +,i feed to all my grow outs and they grow like crazy and develop insane colors quickly

Good stuff. Can be found on-line for very reasonable prices.
Omega One Cichlid Pellets.
You can find at Petsmart if you have one locally. I just started feeding this after researching the ingredients. Can't get much better than what they offer really.

NLS cichlid formula has too little protein. I have small convicts btw. Xtreme is hard to find in my area :(

Actually the percentage of the protein doesn't really matter. All it is a number actually. It doesnt tell you the quality of the protein from where it derives from. The protein comes from a high quality source such as krill, squid and herring all easily digested by tropical fish. On top of that its a very nutritious food and has natural color enhancers. Just an fyi. Hope you find the fish food that you are looking for.

no go with hikari cichlid staple its the best helps fish grow fater and i fell that gold makes my hol room sting for some reason and staple is great
