cichlid pellets

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Out of every fish that I've owned, not one has ever refused the sinking shrimp pellet. I'm unsure if theyre a good staple though??????

I used the NLS sinking pellet. It made my water very cloudy and brown sludge accumulated in the bottom of my wet dry. Unfortunately it was buy 1 get 1 free so I have 2 big containers of it left over.

Sinking cichlid gold, omega one sinking shrimp pellets, and omega one floating cichlid pellets are what I feed, all from petsmart.

What is the JD eating now?

If it will only eat frozen or live food, don't feed it for a few days and then start offering pellets.
No I dont feed frozen or live food to him. He is just eating flakes that my small ebjd is eating, but it takes so many flakes to fill his fatass up. I really need to get him on pellets. I have tried 7-10 different pellets from petsmart already. I just ordered some ken pellets.

Hey you gotta be stubborner than your fish for him to accept a new food. That's all. Keep'em trying.

Don't feed it for a week, it will eat pellets.

I think it's fine as a staple, it's great for loaches and smaller bottom dwelling catfish, plus everything else I keep eats it too.

I use Hikari Bio-Gold+ as a staple. I mix in eatrhworms, Krill and meal worms on different days but always feed the pellets 1st.

If a fish gets hungry enough it's going to eat. Some of mine don't eat while I'm watching, but the food is gone later. I guess I just don't worry about it that much.

Thats strange. My fish get the NLS cichlid pellets (and love it by the way), and I've never noticed it clouding my water or leaving a brown sludge...

Check out Pharaoh's (sp?) thread in the buy/sell forum, he has lots of different types/sizes of NLS for sale at good prices and pretty good shipping rates. I'm going to order a .5 lb 2mm Thera A NLS from him this weekend, only $3 shipping.

All my fish like NLS (EBJDs, silver dollars, plecos). They don't seem to be real picky eaters though...
