What species is the largest of all cichlids?

What is the most rare cichlid? (as in not too many people have them in their tanks)

What is the most under-appreciated cichlid?

uhmm it depends on where the cichlid is from like they have an african cichlids i believe which is called the Emperor cichlid which grows to well over 36" to even 40" i think from some members thread on this species. If your talking about South American their is the Umbee cichlid which grows to 24" and theirs a cichlids known as the Dovii cichlids which can get to 24-30" i'll give out the scientific name soon

Emperor Cichlid- Boulengerochromis Microlepis
Umbee Cichlid- Caquetaia Umbriferus
Dovii Cichlid- Parachromis Dovii

"most-unappreciated cichlids", is all about personal preference.

largest are either Cichla or the emperors.

As for rare, I imagine Iranocichla isn't easy to come by. There are problably some probably extinct or near extinct species from Lake Victoria that would be in such a list

Good stuff guys thanks!

My LFS can get in juvenile Boulengerochromis Microlepis. I watched a video of a pair protecting their nest from a turtle! Kind of ugly looking but a monster no doubt.

cichla temensis are the largest cichlidea i believe!
in my perspective the most rare cichlid is a veija argentea.
the most under-appreciated without a doubt is a dovii.
i can't wait 'til mine are a decent size. = ]

argentea are rare?
they are one of the most common vieja species behind blackbelt and synspilum
