rare= ornatum. Ive been told by other members here that if you dont have one, you might as well not even believe they are real fish. pics are not mine, they belong to a friend of a friend.

How big do those guys get?

edit// whats the scientific name?

that is the name cichlasoma ornatum. Ive done some searches for info on them, and havnt found too much. dont know the size. A collector even told me that he thinks its just a variant and not even a species of its own.

Yea...I saw your other topic on these...I'm down for a group order if this guy can come up with some.

argentea are rare?
they are one of the most common vieja species behind blackbelt and synspilum

they are anything but common where i live.
my friend quinn has 1 of 2 in the city!

Largest Cichlid: Emperor cichlid, temesis comes close, but no cigar.

Most Rare: Ornatum, or if you are considering variants that exist, the red dovii.

Most Under-appreciated: Convicts probably win this one hands down.

they are not common in general, especially in fish stores, but anyone who wants one can easily find some online.
