I dont know too much about cichlids but i think this guy is a braziliensis, right?
Are they generally peaceful or agressive?

Hes not too bad looking ey, i'll post more pics when i get him home tomorrow.

That is a very nice brasiliansis. In my experience, they are much more aggressive than your typical geophagus. Tankmates such as oscars, jack dempseys, jags and such would be good choices.

Mine offed a much larger green terror, so yeah they have some nastiness to them for SA.

For being in a such a small tank he looks really good. I'm sure is happy to be in a larger tank. Good job. I had a female one of these she was 5" and not aggressive she would get a little nippy but never any damage done.

Another great example that water volume is not a definitive factor for growth :) Clean water is! Although it is poor practice to keep a big fish in such a small and unfit enviroment, kudos for keeping the water so clean, it shows actual caring and dedication from a keeper.

Anway, nice brasiliensis! And good save!

great looking fish . . . obviously he's been well cared for, despite the tiny quarters

good save

Was the water well maintained? It looks awfully low, which always makes me wonder if it's been changed recently.

I doubt that they change the water very often, the light stays on 24/7 and he gets fed a generic brand of flakes from the supermarket. Im suprised he looks so good, theres also 2 big male bristlenose cats in there and they look really good to. I dont know what the deal is.:nilly:

I hope he doesnt go into shock from getting moved into clean water, just gonna have to drip acclimate for a while i think.

Im glad you saved it. Yes, they are pretty aggrtessive. He's beautiful for being in such a small tank.

nice save!!, and yeah hope you were careful when acclimating him, i had a fish die from that before, when my parents had my tank and had some africans in it and they never did water changes (they figured since the water "looked" clean it was fine) well i came home to visit and did a large water change and apparently it was too big of one because one of the fish died from it. but yeah thats an amazing looking fish!!
