What kind of cichlids?
Substrate spawners often like a cave with a single defensible entrance.Mouthbrooders will avoid 1 entrance caves unless they are actively hiding.
Just what Ive seen in my tanks.

I have them in three of my tanks. They get used most often by the Frontosas and smaller African Cichlids.

i bought mine from big als, and i didnt buy them bc it was another gimmick.. the main reason i bought them was b/c since they are hollow and offer hiding spaces at the same time; I figured they would effectively reduce the amount of water the tank loses from solid rocks and slate... with that being said my fish tend to not enter them AT ALL.. which i guess is a good thing since they are just always swimming in the front waiting for me to show them attention as opposed to them hiding scared

i learned that cichlids like to hide and attack the opponents , so keep for some more days.

its an good shelter for cichlids
