Cichlid suitable for 75g

Acaras and Angels will, not sure about Acaras and rams......maybe if you have adults or pairs of Rams and the Acaras are smaller....a breeding pair of Rams wouldn't take no guff, but idk about loners vs. most Acaras. If you do, I don't think I would keep Blues or EBAs on my list. Maybe Yellows or Ports or smaller. Heckel's can get nasty I've heard too. Angels are just so much bigger and have a more menacing appearance than Rams...Rams have attitude but get screwed if someone calls their bluff cuz they really are NOT fighting fish....and the fish they CAN stand up to are all built lighter-bodied or simply don't have territorial issues. Angels, Yes, Rams, No.

Only way I could see it work for Angels/Acaras/Rams is possibly a tank of all one sex.......IMO, female better.

Ive got 6 rams which ive had for about 6months and none of them have paired off yet so I assume they are all the same sex. If I get one blue acara would it hassle them? If so then maybe ill go for a keyhole

Honestly, I would just wait a little bit longer before you decide. You make a purchase and have things pair off and everything get screwed up. Imagine having 3 pairs of Rams (unknowingly) that simply "aren't into dating yet" and adding something that kills 4 of the 6 and you never find out which were males or females and then realize you could have made some $$$ if you just waited a little longer ;)

Not saying you can retire, but a couple bags of cichlid pellets certainly make paying bills easier for the month.

I've kept angels, including breeding pairs, with rams (also apistos) with no problems in moderately busy SA tanks. This was years ago, in planted tanks with driftwood; the rams claimed spots where they liked to hang out and the angels payed little attention to them. Not extrapolating to say it always works, but no problems ime.

Blue acaras I don't know as much about, haven't kept them.

...When the angels were protecting a spawn they kept everything else away (including me :)) but they didn't particularly focus on the rams.

Had a few angels with a yellow acara for a bit and had no issues.

Like the others have said geos, acaras, or dwarfs. I recently saw a planted tank w/ angels and dwarf pikes. Looked really good.

Alright so I decided to shut down my 55g and put everything into my 75g with the angels. Its got 2 angels, 6 bolivian rams, 6 corys and roughly 20 tetras ( rummy nose & black neons). Today I went down to the lfs and picked up a keyhole cichlid and a blue acara. Everything seems to be going alright so far, hopefully it stays that way. Thanks for your input guys :)
