Hi i am new to the site im wanting to change my old semi aggressive community aquarium into a cichlid aquarium. its around 500+ ltrs.

in the tank at the moment is -

Synodontis Eupterus (squeeker)
2 Silver dollars ( i want to increase shoal )
bristlenose plec
jewel malawi cichlid
rainbow shark

the cichlids that have caught my eye are -

oscar
jack dempsy
convict
green terror
texas
aspistos

can anyone tell me what i would have to remove from the original stock and what new ones would work, or anymore ideas? stocklists? thankyou

Apistos are a bit small to be housed with the rest on your list, they would either be bullied by some, and become snacks for an adult oscar.
If you put the others together as juvies and grow them together it might work.
All are territorial, so if put together piece meal, territorial disputes could become problematic, especially by some of the more aggressive species (ie the Herichthys).
You should probably keep the SDs, because they make good dithers for most cichlids.

so the list would be...

oscar

jack dempsy
convict
green terror
texas
silver dollars

would i be able to keep my
Synodontis Eupterus and jewel malawi cichlid?

and what numbers? 1 of each of the cichlids but how many silver dollars?
would the silver dollars not get bullied?

and would all these be ok in the size tank i have??

thankyou

I commented on your other post, again I would say that your list is too big for a 125.

3-4 medium sized SA/Central Americans should be the aim with potentially a smaller Cichlid such as Convict would complete your tank unless you have excellent filtration. The basic concept is that you either try to overstock and back it up with filtration, or you play it safe and keep 3-4 medium sized cichlids.

If its not the water conditions that will cause you problems, it will be the overall temperament/compatibility of your stock.

I agree. Oscar, Jack Dempsey, green terror and Texas in a 125 won't work. I would get rid of two.
