cichlid with exodons

firemouths are generally more peaceful then most of its cousins, however, they do sometimes act out, this is the only reason i do not suggest tetras. i had a firemouth kill its tankmates a while back, and i too was nder the impression they were "peaceful". so, not to say it "couldnt" work, i just personally wouldnt do it.

apologies. everything ive read suggests they are too predatory to be kept with other species. thats why i shyed away from them a while back.

its a very common misconception. nothing to apologise about my good sir. while they are "generally recognized" as a species only fish, they have also been successfully kept with some others. i personally have kept them with ottos, cories, loaches, and pleco. and they are also found in the same waters as a couple of other tetras. again, its not "reccommended", but definitely possible. :)

firemouth small and peaceful my last firemouth riped apart a convict i put in there

different fish have different personalities, but in general, the original statement is true.

I had tried to keep exodons in my 60 gallon with a fire mouth and a convict. i had 6-7 tetras and they really stress out the other fish. they even chew on the scales if they can. try going with tiger barbs u might have better luck?
