Okay when my Oscars move into there new Tank, 100g+ i want to have a few(2-3) other cichlids in with them, what do you guys suggest? The move wont be until spring probably just want some ideas.

How many Oscars are you starting with and what size are they ?

Are they the tiger oscars which are down on your signiture at 4" ?

Well if they are your going to need some thing which will stand up to these fish some thing like a Temporale Cichlid get it slightly bigger than the Oscars these fish can hit sizes up to 12" so they should be able to hold there own, Also you could try some convicts they only grow to around 6" but there quite capable of holding there own as befor buy them slightly larger.

Just thinking now but you say your moving them to a 100gal that will be fine for now but the will need a larger tank the way to work it out with Oscars is 1 oscar needs 55gal for there you add another 25 gal per oscar you are wanting to keep.

Example:

1x Oscar 55 Gal
2x Oscars 80 gal
3x Oscars 105gal
and so on.

its just the 2 Oscars, 2 sharks, and 1 pleco. i said 100g+ depending on what size tank a local exotic fish store gets in. he does a Dollar a Gallon sale in mid-spring to increase his fish sales and get rid of older fish, really good guy to have around, knows alot about fish. The tank will be no smaleer than 100g but probably no bigger than 150g. If i should just stick to my 5 fish in there that is fine, just would like a few slightly smaller fish that will be able to fend for itself or 1 big bright fish, since my tank just really only has darker fish, excluding the orange on the oscars and silver on sharks.

Convict Cichlids then or maybe a jewel cichlid or Jack dempsey, Blue acara ( Male ) Geophagus, thats if it's mainly cichlids you want.

Why not try some bottom dwellers, I'e cat fish pleco's you could go with a frog mouth catfish, Banjo catfish, L102 Snowball pleco, Bruno pleco, L128 Blue Phantom pleco alot of it is trial and error find some thing you like try it with your other fish if it don't get along take him back and try another fish !

Good luck !

the lfs around here does the same sale i was thinking of doing the same for my two 9" oscars. I have two 3" jewels in there that are holding their own. They may be small but they're fiesty and color up nice.

Nicaraguense. Really pretty and nifty
But yeah what ever you put in, make sure it wont fit in an oscars mouth

I f you are stuck on the 100gal. I would put nothing else in there except what you already have. But if you upgrade to the 150 you could easily add a GT or JD and maybe a few smaller cichlids like Salvini,Jewel or convicts just get only one covict though last thing you want is a breeding pair of cons in that tank setup..I have a 180 that has JD,GT,Tiger Oscar,Salvini,Jewel and Convict and it works beautifully but at the beggining i had alot of tale nipping but eventually it worked out well.. I tried a male 4" Red Dragon FH but he stirred up trouble quick so he's now in a custom 80gallon by himself..... But if your friends with you lfs owner then try whatever you want and if it doesn't work take the fish back to your friend...
