cichlids and sand driving me crazy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't feel bad, I can actually see the glass in some places in my tank. I don't worry about having smooth sand, they do what they want, and if they are digging, I must assume they are having a good time, and not fighting.

lol grand canyon thats pretty funny, ya digging is something they just like to do, mating/territorial

some of mine like to fill there mouths then swim around the tank making it snow lol

 i see this daily too. if not ill see a mound and then a sudden poof of sand coming from behind the mound but no fish....

my filter is the one that is really feeling it since they keep poofing sand into it its killing the filter :(

too add after everything in tank trick

move all rocks aside. Then lay eggcrate on top of the sand. while pushing down move side to side as fast as you can. It should be swallowed by the sand. Then repeat with base rocks and start stack rest when done. You will have to recover eggcrate time to time.

i swear if after all this trouble those dang fish end up messing the tank up again :swear:

lol my two multis are currently digging up the entire front of the tank where their shells are. they want the sand out of the way so bad that as they're moving it, they just spit it out on the pleco if he happens to be in the way. last night he had a small mound of sand just sitting on his head. hilarious

OMG i choked on my soda! i can just imagine the poor pleco:ROFL::ROFL:

Frankly I don't mind the digging, a changing landscape keeps things interesting, and I like watching the industrious buggers do their thing.
