yeah rams are really pretty too but from what iv read people have a really hard time with them, do they require any kind of extra special care?

i have no troubles at all. i have 6 bolivan rams in a 40g planted tank. i just do my regular wc. lol mater of fact there the only ones i havent had issues with.

really? hmmm i wonder why other people say they have trouble with them? do you do weekly wc or more often? hmm so many choices lol, i think i will try and see what i can get locally to kind of narrow it down there is supposed to be a really good fish store not to far from me (just moved little while ago) but havnt checked it out yet...

yes i do weekly water changes. aboout 30%-40% every saturday :) yea i not to sure y other say they are so hard to keep. i have all 6 of them since just under an inch, now they are about 3-3.5 inches. when i got them i expected for them to be hard to keep, but like i said before they been the easest fish yet for me. maybe i just got lucky :) well Good luck with your choice and keep us informed

ok great thanks for the advice koyote, it will still be a couple weeks before i get them as i cant move my red terror fry into the 125 until they are big enough to not get eaten by the pictus cats, but i will def post pics when i get them and have the tank all set up :)

hmmmm OR i could get them when i move my 125 next weekend and put them in there and then switch them out with fry later, then i could get them alot sooner:headbang2

I am thinking of doing Kribs myself in a 20 long. They have nice color.
and yeah they do have nice color, may end up with those just all depends on what my lfs has as i would really like to avoid ordering online if at all possible

Bolivian rams aren't the ones people usually have issues with, it's the blue rams. They tend to be nitrate sensitive and like warm water, much warmer than most people keep their aquariums at. I never had issues with them once I cranked their temp to 84F.

He had Kribs when I was down there this weekend Sarah. Thats what ate the RT fry I gave him. One jumped from his tank to the fry tank in the store and slurped em down.

what?!?!? did it eat ALL the fry you gave him? thats crazy, but good to know he has them lol id like to get some apistos if he has them but if not then would get the kribs, but thats really crazy it completely jumped into their tank:eek:, now that has to be the most expensive krib in the store:naughty: and yeah i def wouldnt mix any new fish in with my fry was thinking maybe once i got my 125 set up to get them and then once fry were big enough to not get eaten by my cats or BGK i will be getting then switch the apisto/kribs into the 20 and the fry into the 125
