Cichlids in a 20 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd go with a pair of rainbow cichlids, or a firemouth, which are among the most attractive cichlids if you have a high quality specimen

Wow, thanks for all of the replies! I think I will go with a firemouth, I have seen those at my LPS so I know that they are available. I haven't seen rainbow cichlids anywhere though. Thanks again!

i wouldnt go with firemouths. i've heard some people getting them up to 6-7". id stick with cons as about the only non dwarf in a 20g.

You can get away with a FM for a while, but adult size is 6 inches give or take. They grow slowly so if you plan to upgrade within a year or two you probably can do it, but only if you upgrade as they get larger.

If not, stick with a con. I know you don't want a dwarf, but they would fit best, and some of them look amazing. A cockatoo or Ram cichlid would look great if you are up to the challenge.

A pair of Convicts, or a single Firemouth would work out great.

I've never seen a fire mouth over 4" so go with a single fm.

this thread is six months old... I'd bet he already has a fish in there by now...

Jeese your right, I didn't notice the post dates... I hate it when people bump old threads.
