To me it's just wrong if your good at what you do and your doing great business then why raise the minimum order that's showing me 2 things he isn't doing good and 2 he isn't selling many fish. For me I can afforded to Order $100 dollars of fish but why do I need that if I want a single $50 dollar fish and he is the only one with it than why should I have to order more fish I don't want and lose money?

Why does a steak cost $20 more at one steak house vs another? If you don't think it's fair move on to another seller IMO. When running a business, there are underlying costs that not all are aware of. If he has a brick and morter facility that is a significant higher cost than someone who has a basement operation as an example. If he goes out collecting imagaine the operating expense that adds into his business and the impact that has on the price of his stock to cover it.

all i can suggest is go somewere else or pay his price if he is the only one with the fish the your going to pay the price or you not going to get the fish easy as that you say this thread was not started to bash him but thats all your doing imo

I also know where he gets a lot of is stock from I talked to the guy that sells him the fish but the point is why are you going to raise it to a $100 when you see people that just want to buy 1 fish that is $60 to finish off a tank but now hey can't they have to find room for one more fish that they didn't really want to buy or sell it because they didn't want to buy it. Now your losing more money that way.

Not true. A minimum order amount deters people from ordering one fish at a time. If your business model is to move larger amounts of goods per shipment, the minimum order quantity is by design. You don't lose money by not getting an order for one $10 fish, you lose money by investing time placing the order, catching bagging and shipping when your time or an employee's time is more than the $10 your collecting for the order.

What are you trying to order? Is it a Severum at $50.00? Just curious because once you tack on the shipping that $50.00 fish will be over $100 anyway. I can't stand to see sellers especially good ones being attacked just for trying to make a living and this is his living so like some have stated either get the fish or move on to another seller. I would never order a $10 fish on line, no way. Its just not realistic for me or the seller.

Hellman .......... did you ever consider that perhaps not all vendors run their business in the exact same manner? What you are asking is like asking a wholesaler that's 4 States away why his min order is $500, while the guy down the road from you only has a $200 min. Unless you have intimate knowledge of how each vendor runs their business, and the various costs to run their business, in their area, there is no way for you or anyone else to ascertain what or why they do anything. Asking for input on this forum is pointless, as none of us are Dan. So you have asked Dan, wunnerful, then when he responds you can either choose to order from him in the future, or not.

From a business perspective, it seems quite clear to me that you have never owned or operated a business - or you wouldn't be asking these questions.

Minimum $ orders actually saves you the customer money as well. It's simple math. Get a group order or wait until you can take full advantage of 'the' shipping cost.

Let's remember that COA is providing a service that only a handful of people can provide, at the quality that we all demand.

im going off of what his site says i didnt say every fish he sells he went and caught himself thats unrealistic im not that naive but he goes on collection trips and those cost money
