The dark one floating at the top looks redbreast x pseed to me.

Double post

I've done sunfish and cichlids before (CA's) - redbreast (what I knew as missouri longear), Louisiana long ear, and western dollars. They were housed with texas, carpintis, GT, and a few other much larger CA species that could deal with nuetral water parameters. Kept temp at 75, a little low for CA's, a little warm for sunfish. Overall it was ok, but ALL of the CA's were considerably larger than the sunfish. The redbreast are fin-nippers. They reminded me a lot of keeping mbuna - they were too small to fight back or do any real damage, they just never stopped pestering...

He just looks hybridish like he has traits from a pseed
He don't looks like a hybrid to me. But I can see the "pumpkinseed" traits you speaking of but when I clicked on the picture and it still looks like a purebred redbreast to me.

here's some better pics.. pretty sure using the ID sticky that they are red breast and all carbon copies caught w/in 20 ft of each other.. the female JD is now with Mr jack in my main tank, i had exiled her to the smaller tank because i didn't want breeding aggression but i'm not really concerned any more.. (they immediately repaired with the usually cichlid display which was fun to watch, and are now swimming around together and also immediately ripped apart plants which have been largely ignored by mr jack... lol) at any rate, the large red and GT are very tolerant of each other for the time being, but the medium sized one is being picked on a lot and looks terribly stressed. probably won't make it. the smallest one is staying off the radar for the most part and doesn't seem too stressed. still impressed with how quickly they have adapted... Voraciously eating pellets now and even out competing the GT at feeding time. cool stuff.IMG_20130708_180811_624.jpgIMG_20130708_181007_909.jpgIMG_20130708_180944_709.jpgIMG_20130708_180843_941.jpg
