Hey everyone, I few basic cichlid questions. I'm setting up a tropical tank and am consisting adding a convict, ram, out other type of cichlid but was told I couldnt because they are brackish. True our false

Thanks

40 gallons, I wouldn't have them both tbh.

Probably gonna have a shark and a few tiger barbs and then maybe add a cichild and catfish in a few months

The Convicts wont mind the brackish. The rams might. Theyre sensitive and only last up to a year even under the best of conditions.

None of the fish you mentioned are brackish, if you do barbs make sure that the cichlid can't fit it into his mouth. So that being said convicts or rams would probably work.

Only a few cichlids inhabit primarily brackish or salt water, most notably Etroplus maculatus, Etroplus suratensis, and Sarotherodon melanotheron.
