cichlids with turtles

i disagree with the posts saying that a RES cannot reside with cichlids. My RES are VERY carnivorous they have ate LIVE frogs, mice, creek chubs, crawdads, etc. but lived with a LMB, 2 Jack Dempseys, 2 parrot fish, and a red terror for well over a year without any injuries to my fish. Maybe im just lucky but i think that the cichlids are way too large for the RES to get a hold of to do any damage. Although I wouldnt advise putting them with young fish under 5 or 6 inches. Also keep them well fed and they learn the difference between the feeders and their tankmates.

As long as the fish are big enough to show the turtle they aren't food, I see no problems. Even shubunkin goldifsh can show a turtle they aren't food.

I had a JD in 40 breeder with a couple RES for over a year. Then after that she moved into a rubbermaid tub with my snapping turtle and they lived in harmony for quite some time too. Unfortunately when that freeze ran through FL this year the heater wasn't strong enough and she passed. The turtles were all fine.
